We may offer a free, limited ultrasounds as part of your visit. Your appointment will always begin with a pregnancy test and time with a nurse. Based on your results and medical history, the nurse will let you know if an ultrasound is recommended that day.

Not everyone will need or receive an ultrasound, and that’s okay. No matter what, you’ll still get answers, support, and a chance to talk through your situation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your Pregnancy Verification Appointment

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Visits typically last about one hour. Here’s what a visit typically looks like:

  • Check-in: Share some basic information and ask any initial questions.
  • Nurse Consultation & Pregnancy Test: Take a simple test and review your results with a nurse within minutes.
  • Ultrasound: If recommended by the nurse, receive an ultrasound to help confirm your pregnancy and answer key questions.
  • Next Steps: Talk through your options, ask questions, and get connected to helpful resources and support.
If your male partner attends, he’ll also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a male coach during the first part of the visit.

Due to the high need for free ultrasounds in the central texas area, we require clients to confirm their pregnancy with a positive test first. We offer free pregnancy tests and can usually schedule your ultrasound the same day if it's recommended by our nurse.

If you're considering abortion, the first step is a pre-abortion screening that includes an ultrasound.

An ultrasound can confirm two important things:

Is your pregnancy progressing?
How far along you are matters. It affects which abortion methods are available to you and what they might cost. This depends on your health history and the stage of your pregnancy.

Is your pregnancy viable?
Not every pregnancy continues on its own. Up to 1 in 4 pregnancies end naturally, and many women don’t know they’ve miscarried until it’s seen on an ultrasound. If that’s the case, follow-up medical care may be needed.

Limited ultrasounds at Agape often do:

  • Detect a fetal heartbeat
  • Estimate how far along you are (gestational age)
  • Advise if you need immediate medical care at an emergency room

 

Limited ultrasounds at Agape do not:

  • Reveal the baby’s sex
  • Diagnose fetal abnormalities
  • Replace prenatal care from your doctor
